Craftsmen Training Scheme - NSTI Kolkata

The Craftsmen Training Scheme was introduced by the Government of India in year 1950 to ensure a steady flow of skilled work force in different trades for the domestic industry, to raise quantitatively and qualitatively the industrial production by systematic training, to reduce unemployment among the educated youth by providing them employable skills, to cultivate and nurture a technical and industrial attitude in the minds of younger generation.

Presently, this scheme is being implemented through a network of 15,042 ITIs (Govt. 2,738 + Private 12,304) and 33 NSTIs located all over the country by ensuring the general standards laid down by Director General of Training. Under the Craftsman Training scheme (CTS), the duration of various trades training courses varies between 1 to 2 years.

Commencement of the Session: August every year.

How to Apply: Candidates desiring admission may obtain the Application form and other details from the Institute on payment of RS. 25/- in cash and Rs. 50/- shall be charge toward Registration fee for General candidates (No Registration fee for SC/ST/PH candidates).  Filled Application Form is to be submitted along with latest Passport size Photographs. Application form may also be downloaded from the Institute website. For further details please follow the Advertisement for the Admission publishes in due time.

Mode of Selection: Selection is made on merit basis as per Govt. Of India norms.

AGE: Candidates should ordinarily be between 14 to 40 years of age as on 1st August of that year and the maximum age limit permissible for Ex-servicemen and war widow is 45 Years.

Reservation of Seats: Reservations are applicable as per Govt. Of India rules for Women, SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PH, wards of defence personel, son / daughter of serving DGT staff.

Fees Payable: To be paid at the time of Admission except cost of form and Registration fees (if applicable) which are collected at the time of form submission. Hostel Rent, Hostel Service Charge & Hostel Caution Money (Refundable) to be paid extra in case hostels are availed by trainees.

Hostel Facilities: Limited number of hostel seats are available at the Institute for both male and female trainees which will be allotted to deserving trainees at the normal hostel rent after admission.

Medical Facilities : Free medical facility is available in ATI Dispensary subject to availability of medicine in Govt. Medical Store. However, critical cases are referred to Govt. hospital for treatment but cost will be borne by the trainee.

Sports & Games: Playground is available for outdoor Games.

Working Hours: From 09.00 am to 5.30 pm with half hour lunch break on all working days(Monday to Friday).

Attendance : Minimum 80% attendance is required to appear in the Final Trade Test to be held at the end of the course.
